  • If you create art for others, sometimes, the toughest part is getting your client to focus on what they want. Sea turtles look different depending on what area of the world they are found in. do we want adults, sub-adult, or other animals in the display? These are all questions that should be answered before starting on your project.

  • Airbrushing:

Ideal for achieving smooth gradients and a realistic shell look. Start with a base coat, then layer lighter shades and patterns using a fine airbrush.

    Sponge Painting:

Use a sponge to dab light colors over a darker base for a textured look that mimics the natural patterns of a turtle’s shell.

    Stencil Techniques:

Create stencils of shell patterns and use them for more precise designs. This method is great for consistency if creating multiple props.

    Hand-Painting:

For unique creations, brush painting allows for detailed work and individual character. Perfect for adding unique facial expressions or distinct features.

    Finish

Always finish your painted sea turtles with a sealant to protect your work and enhance colors. A matte finish gives it a natural look, while a glossy finish can give the illusion of wetness like a live turtle.
