Animal Makers has been serving the entertainment industry since 1979. In that time, we have developed many wonderful methods and technologies to accomplish the creation of realistic animal replicas that move. More than just moving, these animals can actually take direction and perform as instructed.
Founder, Jim Boulden, started by selling original animal art for store displays and personal collections in 1979. The art developed to be quite realistic. The store owners requested less realism, as some of their customers thought the work was taxidermy. Instead, Jim upped the ante and went after film and television work. In 1985, Bruce Hendricks (Production Manager on "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" series) awarded Jim's first film work for "The World's Richest Cat" (1986). Larry Hagman was the voice for Palmer the Cat and Jim made the cat props. Since then, Bruce's films have booked other shows including Pirate's of the Caribbean "Black Pearl", 2003.
This special brand of special fx has gone on to appear in 2015's blockbuster tv series, "ZOO" (starring James Wolk, Kristen Connolly and Nonso Anozie) and "Wrecked" (a "LOST" parody starring Ginger Gonzaga, Ally Maki, Nicholas Alexander, 2016). Of course, our work also appeared in "LOST" (starring Naveen Andrews, Matthew Fox, Jorge Garcia 2005-2010).
